We slept until almost 10:00 AM on Sunday morning and then we got up and had bacon and eggs for breakfast. We had no real plans for the day so we headed over to Heather and Paul’s for one last visit before we head on our way. We spent the afternoon chatting on their beautiful deck eating some yummy cherries, the guys disappeared into the garage to see Paul’s 1970 Dodge Challenger & talk guy stuff and the teens WiFi’d themselves on their I-pads.
A wonderfully happy afternoon was had by all.
We picked up a few groceries and headed back to the RV for Beef Stew and hot fresh bread for dinner, a movie and bed.
The next morning we woke early, did a load of laundry, all showered and packed up to head out. Dale wanted to head east to Ontario so we could fill in another province on our map - we may not get this far east again for a while so instead of heading due south to “Fargo” off we went to Kenora, Ontario. It was a wonderful drive until we hit a 3 minute torrential rainstorm just as we got into Kenora - we couldn’t see 3 feet in front of us and the puddles in the road were like raging rivers! As quickly as it began it was over and the sunshine came out.

We headed south along Lake of the Woods, a beautiful scenic drive - we live in such a beautiful country. We went through Sioux Narrows, Nestor Falls, Fort Frances and then crossed the border into Minnesota at International Falls.

We stopped for diesel and wanted to look around as it was such a quaint little town but everything was closed - it was 6:30 PM already.

Looking out the front windshield with the wipers going full on - that's not steamed up windows - that is rain! |
We drove on a little ways and we found a wonderful little spot beside the Big Fork River to park for the night. We would have liked to explore the area a little but there were SWARMS of mosquito’s that made it impossible to even step outside. We had lasagna for dinner and then spent a restless night swatting at the little varmints that had gotten in the door when we let Henry out for his evening “stroll” that in this case was a quick dash!

Parked for the evening in "Mosquito Central"! I had to run out, click and run back in FAST and still had about fifty of the varmints on my arms and legs. |
