Iowan's are so friendly! |

We're here at last! |
After we had our breakfast of SPAM and eggs - yes that was the menu for the day, we headed out to find a carwash to DEBUG and DEMUD the Navion as well as pick up a few necessities such as beer, wine, ice for the cooler, and milk before we headed over to the grounds to check in at 1:00 PM (Check in time 1:00 to 5:00 PM - they’re very organized - you have to be to handle somewhere between 1000 to 1500 motorhomes for a week long event such as this and they’ve been doing it a longtime - since 1969 - this is their 45th. year!). Everyone was so friendly (all volunteers I might add) and in no time at all we were parked and having lunch.
After lunch, Dale and I continued setting up and getting organized while Kasey and Dillon went off on bikes to check everything out. Soon Dillon returned covered in blood and gravel - he had taken a fall. After trying to clean him up in the washroom, he was still bleeding a little and looking pale and shaky so I asked about a first aid station. Soon we heard sirens and then there were ambulance and paramedics on the scene! A little bit of overkill for him but it was good to have him checked out in case of any head injury. They cleaned him up, bandaged him better than I could have and then he spent the rest of the afternoon laying on my bed in a little bit of pain. Surprisingly, he got up in time for dinner and then went with us to the evening bingo game where he won $5 - that cheered him up in no time and he came back laughing and joking like his old self again! I’m not sure how GNR is going to be able to handle the Warcup Family after day 1 - it will take some doing!
